More than 3 decades ago, the bullet was primarily solelyassociated with the X factor. Coming from a small town in Mumbai, as a kid, I didnot know many people, who owned bullets back then. The thump of a bullet those times,made me turn my head to marvel at the strong machine that passed by.(This isthe case even today).

Bullets in those days, were usually associated with the“bhai`s” of the town. They would opt for the machine, to indicate the power itthrusts, the reverberating sound of the thump, which could easily be heard amile away. That had nothing to do with how one looked. There would be one, verylasting impression that would be left, “give way, the macho is here”.

Chimpoo Simpoo ( Hindi: चिमपू सिमपू) is an Indian Animated television series directed by Amit Gaur and produced by Digitales Studio. It aired on ZeeQ from 2016 to 2017. It is about two friends Chimpoo, who is a young detective, and his pet dog, Simpoo. They have a closet which contains their detective gadgets and tools.

A machine which was meant for riding across the highways and terrains of India, with a thump sorelaxed, that it would sedate you, and yet permit you to admire the beauty ofthe landscape. Bulletiers were associated with the attitude of calm on theexterior, watchful, observant and ever ready to strike. Speed wasn’t themotive, simply being on the road with that attitude, that it made people wantto turn and acknowledge the existence of such a wild thump.

I do not know, if that was the intention of Enfield orwhether the market strategy was to form an association with such riders.

Bullets were launched primarily with the purpose ofpatrolling the borders of our country. Headquartered in Chennai, the olderversions of the Enfield are rather easily available in the south and the borderarea.

Well, to ride at cast iron machine which weighed about approximately280 kgs, you needed to be at least decently built. Most were huge, withuntrimmed beards, well shaped moustaches, and with an enigmatic effect, thatapproaching them was way out of question.

With an engine low on mileage and with a tendency for a dayon day engine work at the garage, this huge envious vehicle, was not meant forthe average Indian, trying to get a grip on life.

The associations that we make with objects around us, basedon the influence of the society becomes a full fledged mindset of our own.Shrugging this off, re-learning what we learnt as kids, is so extremelydifficult, unless we open to our minds, to accept the truth and in all honestybow down and add to those memories, based upon our own experiences.
